A child has died from hyperthermia in a hot car.
According to the Uiryeong Police Station on July 4, in the morning around 9:30 am, a 63-year-old grandfather picked up his 3-year-old grandson to drop him off at the daycare. However, the grandfather had forgotten about the child in the back seat and drove straight to work instead. He left his car parked in the indoor parking lot for nearly 4 hours. Around 1:30 pm, the grandfather returned to his vehicle and found his grandson unconscious in the back seat.
The child was rushed to the hospital and received emergency care, however, he failed to survive. The police believe the child died from the heat in the car.
The grandfather stated, "I was so focused on the morning duties that I forgot I brought my grandson with me."
The police plan to continue the investigation on the child's death. The grandfather might be charged with a crime.
