'Produce 48' shared the details on the show's voting system and the winners' promotion period.
On June 11, 'Produce 48' held a press conference in Seoul. Kim Yong Bum, the head director of Mnet, also attended the event and revealed, "The voting will only take place in Korea. The contestants from AKB48 are tremendously popular in Japan so they have a big difference/advantage from Korean trainees. We will only accept voting in Korea to start from zero."
As for their debut, director Kim explained, "They will debut in both nations. We have decided to make the contract 2 years and 6 months this time so they could promote globally throughout the long term."
The girl group will consist of 12 members. Previously, it was rumored that there will be 6 Korean trainees and 6 Japanese trainees, however, Ahn Joon Young PD clarified that the winners will be chosen solely on the votes without considering their nationality, meaning the top 12 contestants with the most votes will be debuting.
The first episode of 'Produce 48' is airing on June 15.
