The opening episode highlighted the 6 new and old cast members, Wanna One's Kang Daniel, Lee Yi Kyung, LOCO, Tak Jae Hoon, Lee Pil Mo, and Kim Min Suk, and their entrance to their first vacation home.
While the program remained true to its original concept and format, viewers quickly noticed after watching the first episode that the new cast is noticeably older. The cast mix includes Tak Jae Hoon, who is in his 50s, plus Lee Pil Mo, who is in his 40s. Viewers complained that due to the big age divide between the present members so far, it seemed the stars didn't have a choice but to adopt an atmosphere where the older sunbaes have more authority, while the younger hoobaes needed to remain respectful, dutiful, and obedient.
In regard to this criticism, Lee Yoon Hwa PD of MBC shared, "We did not intent to recruit older members on purpose. We just thought we would be able to depict the different mental states of various age groups."
The PD continued, "The first meeting was simply an orientation, one where the members could meet all kinds of people and learn one another's personalities. Tak Jae Hoon is just one of several types of homebodies who joined the orientation episode. Lee Yi Kyung's character came out as funny. We thought of him as a member who could have all kinds of unique images, but he ended up being portrayed as pitiful. We are reflecting on the parts that many viewers feel uncomfortable about, and we will take such criticism into consideration moving forward."
Next week, the 'It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets' cast members intent to fly to Jeju island for a healing vacation. Did you watch the premiere of the regular season of 'It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets'?
