Last year, MONSTA X toured 16 cities across the globe, and this summer, they are scheduled for a tour in Europe. Ever since their debut in 2015, MONSTA X built a wide international fandom but they have yet to create a big fanbase in their motherland.
In an interview with Sports Chosun on March 26, the MONSTA X members opened up about their lack of popularity in Korea.
Hyungwon said, "The public not really knowing much about MONSTA X is the reality. We are also well aware of it. I believe they will recognize us one day if we continue to promote and show a good side."
Kihyun also commented, "I think we are climbing up step by step since our debut. There are still many more steps we have to move up. And I actually think it motivates us to improve even more."
Lastly, Wonho said, "I don't wish to become more famous but I do wish for our fandom to grow because that will allow us to show a better performance in a better environment."
Meanwhile, MONSTA X made their comeback with the 6th mini album 'THE CONNECT' on March 26.
