YG Entertainment has released an official statement regarding Big Bang G-Dragon and Taeyang's military enlistments.
On February 6, YG Entertainment simply stated, "G-Dragon and Taeyang are currently waiting on the draft notices for their active-duty military service." Following T.O.P, who's serving in public service, G-Dragon and Taeyang are the next Big Bang members to start their mandatory military service.
Earlier in the day, a media outlet reported that G-Dragon went to graduate school for his master's degree and then applied for a doctorate as a tactic to avoid military enlistment. According to reports, G-Dragon delayed his military enlistment by 730 days, and though this way of delaying service is not illegal, it is highly frowned upon. The Office of Military Manpower Administration commented, "We cannot reveal the personal details of a person's enlistment situation," but the government bureau did state they would be monitoring the enlistment of celebrities following changes to military enlistment laws. In light of the headlines, Sejong University's graduate school of industry stated, "It's true G-Dragon has graduated."
In other news, Taeyang and Min Hyo Rin tied the knot on February 3.
