Last month, a female director identified as 'B' shared on social media that she was sexually assaulted by another female director identified as 'A'. According to director 'B', back in Spring 2015, director 'A' attempted to have sexual activities with 'B' who was unconscious after having drinks, and the case was later taken to court.
In December 2017, the court ruled 2 years of penal servitude, 3 years of probation, and 40 hours of sex education for 'A'.

'A' revealed to have been one of the award winners at the 'Women in Film Korea 2017 Festival', which took place on December 12, 2017.
Women in Film Korea responded to the issue with a cancellation of director 'A's award. The association officially announced on February 5, "Women in Film Korea was later informed about 'A's case on February 2 through a report, and the board members were gathered for a discussion. The board members believe she has clearly violated the cause of the association's establishment and decided to cancel her award."
Women in Film Korea also apologized for not knowing about 'A's issue ahead of time.
