Because their general strike lasted 73 days, the broadcasting station is leaning toward reformatting for the new year instead of preparing for end of the year festival. An MBC executive said, "We looked over it from various angles, but it looks like it won't be easy to hold the awards. We are checking for possible personnel in the case that we decide to hold them, but right now it's more likely that we won't hold the awards."

This means that the 'MBC Drama Awards' and the 'MBC Broadcast Awards' won't air. However, the usual 'MBC Gayo Daejejeon', which is always held on December 31, will still take place.
