Following this, Chinese fans posted photos of their receipts for proof via Weibo, professing their love for the artist. The total amount is said to be around 900 million KRW ($828,000) when adding up all of the purchases on the receipts.
Though Hwang Chi Yeol's album was released over the summer in June, the reason for the sudden surge in sales is because of his upcoming birthday on December 3.
As a result, dedicated fans in China decided to hold a special event by purchasing a large number of Hwang Chi Yeol's albums as a birthday present to the singer.
In addition, 'Be Ordinary' topped music charts, surpassing K-Pop idol groups like Super Junior, Wanna One, and SHINee's Taemin.
