According to insiders, Jo Kwon and the agency discussed the matter for a period of time ahead of his contract expiration date. After the discussion, the two parties decided to part ways, and he will be looking for a new company from here on.
One source said, "Jo Kwon was with JYP Entertainment since 2001, during which he spent the first 7 years as a trainee, and then promoted for the past 9 years after he debuted in 2008. Recently, he and the company spoke about the direction of his career and after doing so, he has decided to start fresh. Although it was a difficult decision as his heart has been with the company for so long, the two parties decided to cheer each other on in their future activities."
With Jo Kwon leaving the company, all members of 2AM have now left JYP Entertainment to start their second chapters in the entertainment industry. Jo Kwon also took to Instagram to let fans know about the change personally, which you can see below.
