A 51-year-old Korean-Chinese man (ethnically Korean, Chinese citizen) who stabbed and killed a convenience store clerk over a small argument has been arrested.
On December 14, the Kyungsan Police Department announced that the man, surnamed Cho, has been arrested for killing a 35-year-old store employee.
According to the police report, Cho entered the store at around 3 AM while being intoxicated. He then had a dispute with the clerk over having to pay 100 KRW (around 8 cents) for a plastic bag. After Cho refused to pay for the bag, he left only with a drink.
Cho went home but was still angry. Shortly thereafter, he returned to the store with a knife, stabbed the victim in the stomach about 5 times, killing her.
After the crime, Cho was found sitting in front of the store by the police who had received a report from a resident nearby who witnessed the crime.
