Gummy said, "The meaning of Gummy (spider in Korean) is exactly that, a spider. That became my stage name because once you fall into a spider's web, you can't get out."
Hwanhee said, "SM Entertainment's Lee Soo Man chose my stage name. The meaning behind Hwanhee is good (meaning Joy in Korean) and it's a commonly used phrase so he picked it for me, hoping lots of people would say it to me. At first, I did not really like it. However, there's Kangta [of H.O.T] and Junjin [of Shinhwa], so I thought [my name] was better than theirs. I thought mine was better than theirs. If you combine Hwanhee and Kangta, it becomes Hwanta. There were a lot of fun stories."
