FNC Entertainment CEO, Han Sung Ho, is also a producer for his singers. And compared to other entertainment agency CEOs, he is relatively young at 43. Therefore, he seems to emphasize communicating with his artists. Media outlet OSEN sat down with Han Sung Ho for an interview to discuss the past year of FNC and the agency's plans for next year.
This year, FNC suffered from many scandals. AOA became even more popular than before but some of the members' controversial statements made headlines, Yonghwa had a stock scandal, and the most recent sexual groping scandal by Lee Se Young also drew a lot of attention to the agency.
Regarding those scandals, Han Sung Ho said, "It was hard for me, but it was really difficult for them. But we also learned from it. I believe one day, I will be thankful for those times. It will make me a more mature, experienced leader. It was also a chance to make the bond among artists, staffs, and myself stronger. If we just stay in a greenhouse, it makes us weaker. I think [the scandals] were a good vaccine for FNC because we have to go on another 10 years."
He continued, "Lee Se Young faced that trouble shortly after she joined FNC. She said she was sorry and cried. Because she is accepting her wrongdoing, I think it will be a chance for her to re-evaluate herself and be humble. She didn't have an agency before, so it would've been harder for her if it came up while she was all alone. I don't want her to feel apologetic towards me but want her to think that it was a good thing for her. She should take a break, become more mature, and start over again."
When asked about plans for next year, the CEO shared, "There's a plan for new artists next year. AOA will release its first full-length album, and that will start off 2017. We already have a list of artists who will work in the first half of the year. We will also be active in drama production."
Han Sung Ho finished off, saying, "We want to become an entertainment company that makes people laugh and feel comforted. For the last 10 years, I wanted us to be number 1, but now I've changed my goal. I want to build a company where the staff members and artists work together."
