A 2-year-old died tragically after being rejected from 13 different hospitals.
The toddler and his grandmother were crossing a busy street in Banwoldang and were hit by a tow truck. The victims were immediately transported to a nearby hospital but there was no surgeon who could operate on the toddler because all the surgeons were already in surgery.
The 2-year-old was sent from one hospital after another, but after exhausting all the options -- 13 locations in total -- the victim had to be flown via helicopter to a hospital far away. While on the helicopter, his heart stopped 3 times, and he passed away the following day.
The other victim, the child's grandmother also did not survive.
One of the hospitals that did not accept the 2-year-old explained, "We did not have any operating tables open; we had to ask help from other hospitals...each hospital had their reasons why they couldn't operate on the child."
