Parents who gang-raped a female elementary school teacher in Sinan County did not accept the court's decision and appealed against the sentencing.
The three men, surnames Kim (38), Lee (34), and Park (49) were each sentenced to 18, 13, and 12 years, respectively, in prison for sexual assault charges.

Back in May, these three men were arrested for making their children's elementary school teacher get drunk and raping her. They initially denied the charges, saying that they remember nothing because they were also too drunk. However, later on, when presented with physical evidence of rape, the men tried to blame the teacher for getting too drunk around men.
When the court finally handed down the sentence in this first ruling, all three men expressed that they would appeal the decision, in order to get lighter sentences.
The Gwangju prosecution office also appealed the court's first decision, stating that the sentencing was not heavy enough considering that the crime was so heinous and despicable.
