This is something that people in the service industry may relate to. A part-time convenience store clerk is gaining attention online for pleading with customers to receive better treatment.
In a recent online community post, a photo was uploading showing a handwritten message taped on top of a cash register. The message reads, "Please don't speak rudely. It is so hard to take. Please do not curse at me. I want to work with a smile on my face."
The story and the photo have gone viral, being shared by many netizens on other websites and gaining a lot of sympathy.
One netizen wrote, "I also was horribly mistreated while working as a convenience store; I heard sexist comments and my appearance was mocked." Many are cheering on the clerk and hoping that she can persevere.
