Authorities arrested a man who hid in a Seoul National University (SNU) women's restroom in an attempt to sexually assault anybody who would enter.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency revealed on September 22 that they have arrested a man in his 60's identified as 'A' for trying to sexually assault a researcher from SNU's College of Natural Sciences. The police state that 'A' hid in a stall for around 2 to 3 hours before he attempted to commit the crime.
When the female researcher entered the restroom alone around 5 p.m., 'A' tried to sexually assault her after threatening her with a knife but the woman managed to sound an alarm.

'A', who tried to run away after the alarm started ringing, was caught by the other researchers that were in the vicinity and handed over to the police.
Police revealed, "'A', who is currently unemployed, attempted a premeditated felony, and we found several cutter knives in his pockets."
Police plan to look into whether this incident has any relation to the Gangnam murder which occurred this past May, look further into the exact motive behind 'A's crime, and book him on charges of attempted rape.
