According to MBC, the man, identified as Park and found to be 27 years old, chased the girl into a library and proceeded to beat her by throwing punches, pulling at her hair, and even kicking at her several times. The girl attempted to fight back but was overpowered and forced to retreat to the bookshelves. She was only saved when a library employee restrained and calmed the man down.
Park had reportedly gone into a fit when female students of the school he graduated from ten years ago failed to greet him and ignored him. Allegedly, he had even followed the girls around for 30 minutes, asking for their names and threatening them.
Despite Park's assaults which could have resulted in serious injuries on the student, authorities only charged him with battery, booking him without physical detention. In the end, the man was let off with a summary offense and a fine of 1 million KRW (~$842 USD).
