The woman had become incensed when her 8-year-old daughter, who was playing at a playground of an apartment in Seoul's Dobong District, called and complained to her that a "9-year-old boy had hit her multiple times."
The woman marched to the playground and threw a volleyball at the boy, but thankfully, the ball missed and only grazed his body. The woman also reportedly slapped the boy's left cheek and then struck both his cheeks, asserting that it was "disciplinary action."

The woman then demanded that the boy get down on his knees before her daughter to grovel and beg for forgiveness. Afraid that the woman might hit him again, the boy got down on his knees and apologized.
A rep from the court relayed, "We took into consideration the defendant's brutish behavior toward a defenseless child and the negative influence the abuse could have had on him which we judged is a matter of serious offense so we sentenced her to prison. We also put her under house arrest after taking into account the fact that the child wasn't gravely hurt, that the defendant admitted to her crime, and that she has no other criminal record.
Meanwhile, the boy's side claimed, "He never hit the woman's daughter, and she struck the boy without even bothering to find out the truth."
