On April 14, the Seoul Central District Court ruled against plaintiff Choi Jong Rim, the novelist who claimed that the film 'Assassination' plagiarized parts of his book 'Korean Memories.'
If you recall, Choi had filed a damages suit against Caper Films, the company that distributed 'Assassination.' Now, nearly a year later, the courts have ruled in favor of the defendant, reasoning that though the premise of the novel and the film is similar, there are key differences in the way the characters and the story are presented.

The courts stated, "The fictional figures and the incidents themselves we can acknowledge but the manner in which they are actually presented is different."
