Idols commemorate Korea's Independence Movement Day

Numerous idols uploaded flag photos on their SNS to commemorate Korea's Independence Movement Day.�

March 1 is a meaningful day in Korean history. On March 1, 1919, Korea stood up for its independence from Japan. A series of protests took place across the country where Koreans marched the streets shouting,�"Daehan Minguk Mansei", which means 'Long live Korea'.�

This protest by brave Koreans ultimately led to Korea's independence, but also came with brutality as about 7,000�protesters were killed, 16,000 wounded, and more than 45,000 arrested.�Property damage was also�abominable with more than 700 houses, churches, and schools destroyed.�

Koreans commemorate this bloody day in history as 'Samiljul' or the Independence Movement Day of March 1.
