Day care instructor penalized for abusing a child with a food tray

A daycare instructor was fined for beating a 4-year-old child with a food tray for the mere reason that he had spilled his food.�

Seoul Central District Court announced that they penalized 25-year-old Ji with a 3 million KRW (~$2,433 USD) fine for bruising the head of 4-year-old 'A', who was under Ji's care.�

Back in July of 2014, Ji was arrested for charges of hitting the forehead of 'A' with a food tray based solely on the reason that 'A' threw a fit over the side dishes and upturned his tray.�During her trial, Ji had denied the charges pressed against her, claiming, "'A' hurt his forehead while he was playing around."�

However, the courts stated that they cannot accept Ji's testimony when considering the fact the victim was consistent with his testimony and that Ji didn't try anything on her part to prove her innocence. The courts reasoned, "The crime definitely cannot be considered light when taking into consideration the physical abuse [toward a child] as a daycare instructor."
