A grotesque-looking new dish conjured by a dietitian at a Daegu High School is drawing mixed reactions from netizens.
A photo of this strange dish was recently shared on Twitter by 'A', a student of the high school, and it has quickly gone viral since. But whether the post went viral because people who were brave enough to try it and raving about it or gagging after tasting is hard to tell for certain. I get the feeling that it's more the latter than former.
The dish, called 'strawberry carbonara rice cakes,' is a spin-off of the traditional Korean food tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), drenched in--you guessed it--strawberry carbonara sauce.

The students who have tried the menu were said to have commented, "It doesn't taste like cream or strawberries." Netizens who saw the picture seemed to share the sentiment of the students, unconvinced by the unnatural way it looks and its close resemblance to melted pink plastic, saying, "This is something foreigners would talk about," "You can really tell the experimental state of mind [behind this dish]," and, "It seems a bit too much."
I'm afraid I'm inclined to agree with the netizens on this one...
