A little girl who was abused by her own father and his girlfriend was reported to have been recently discharged from the hospital in much better shape.
The girl, an 11-year-old child identified as 'A', was a mere 16kg (~35lbs) when she was first admitted to the hospital. Incheon's Gil Hospital revealed Wednesday that 'A', who was admitted this past December 24, was discharged January 20 after about a month of psychological treatment and convalescence. The hospital also stated that 'A' is now 23.5kg (~52lbs), having gained some healthy weight following her strictly monitored diet and treatment.
Though it may not be close to the average weight of the children around her age, the hospital said it is a reasonable weight gain considering that it's not healthy for the body to gain too much weight too quickly.

'A' is currently at a shelter operated by a child protection agency. The agency is in the process of placing 'A' in either a foster home or better yet, a loving, permanent home.
'A' was discovered last month in a supermarket scarfing down snacks, the first place she had run to after she managed to escape the laundry room that she was confined in. 'A's father, his girlfriend, and friend were all arrested under charges of child abuse for locking and starving 'A' for over two years.
