It is no hidden secret that the Hallyu wave is attributed in great part to K-Pop, and Korea has definitely caught whiff of the K-Pop scent spreading all across the globe!
In an effort to attract more foreign tourists to Korea where the addictive new genre was birthed, Gangnam District office raised life-sized toys emblazoned with names of the hottest acts in K-Pop. These cute figurines, three meters high and molded into shapes of teddy bears, sprouted up on K-Star Road in the Apgujeong and Shinsa districts, right in the vicinity of the biggest labels in Korea, like JYP and SM!
There were ten toys already set up back in February including those of 2PM, Girls' Generation, EXO, Super Junior, and more. Seven additional toys have now been set up, imprinted with the names of B1A4, AOA, KARA, Block B, INFINITE, VIXX, and BTS!
According to the Korea Times, Mayor Shin Myeon Hee relayed, "We hope that the K-Star Road helps to achieve the goal of attracting 10 million foreign tourists by 2018."
