A private emergency medical care center worker, a woman, and two others were arrested by the authorities for planning and abetting a homicide of the woman's ex-husband.
The Cheonan Seobuk Police Station recently arrested 63-year-old 'A' for conspiring to murder her ex-husband along with three accomplices, a 36-year-old emergency medical care center worker identified by surname Choi, a 47-year-old identified by surname Kim, and a 39-year-old identified by surname Han.
According to police, 'A' met up with Choi last April at a cafe in Gyeonggi Province's Yongin City and ordered Choi, "Bury my ex-husband in a place where he'll never return without anyone finding out. I will give you 50,000,000 KRW (~ $43,000)."
Choi, upon receiving 'A's orders, rang former hospital director Kim and passed on the task of murdering 'A's husband. Kim, together with Han, kidnapped 'A's ex-husband, 71-year-old Yoon, in May of the same year. Kim and Han, after kidnapping Yoon on a road in Seoul's Songpa District, threw Yoon into a van and drove around for two hours before murdering him in Namyangju City. They then dumped Yoon's corpse into a grave that they had previously dug.
After confirming that the ex-husband was murdered, 'A' handed Choi the 50,000,000 KRW and Choi handed the money to Kim on the same day the murder was committed. 14,000,000 (~$12,000) of the 50,000,000 KRW went to Kim's accomplice Han.
The deceased Yoon and 'A' were discovered to have divorced last March. Yoon and 'A' were in the middle of a lawsuit involving the division of their assets since January of that year.
After obtaining information related to the homicide last July, police began an investigation which lasted six months, questioning the people who had known Yoon.
Based on the testimonies of Kim, the authorities learned of the location of Yoon's burial site and excavated his corpse this past December 15.
