Statistics show that 1.7 billion people in the world don't have access to a light source, something you and I take for granted. And half of those people are residing in Africa.
'Sunlight lanterns' (solar lanterns) are better for the environment and safer to use than oil lamps, which some Africans still use. And statistics on the homepage for the campaign say national income increases, people in poverty can save money from lamp oil costs, and studying time for children can increase by 1.5 hours a day.
Some of the African countries who have been helped include Malawi, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia. Lotte World Tower aims to send 10,000 sunlight lanterns every year.

It's actually really easy to be a part of this campaign, because it doesn't require a donation but just your words. They ask you to leave a hopeful message on their Facebook post. Those messages will be sent to children in African countries along with the lanterns.
