Confrontation between political demonstrators and police results in violent chaos

Buzz

During the mass demonstration that took place this past November 14, it was reported that the protestors turned violent and smashed fifty police buses.

MBN News reported on November 15, "Fifty police buses were damaged from the violent opposition of the protestors." The trashed buses were the result of a violent confrontation between the police and participants of the demonstration, who were attempting to advance to their planned rendezvous at Gwanghwamun.

An auto body shop mechanic in charge of servicing the police buses relayed, "The demonstrators poured sand in the fuel tanks so we can't repair the vehicles but exchange the damaged components with new parts. It's the first time that the buses were damaged this badly. Once the broken glass is replaced, the total cost of repairs would approximately be around 10 million Won (~$8,552 USD) [per vehicle]."
