70% of the episode was probably spent showing Hye Jin avoiding Sung Joon like he is the very plague itself. But the more Hye Jin tries to avoid Sung Joon, the more run-ins she has with him, making for some hilariously awkward moments that are also deeply embarrassing, especially for Hye Jin. Bah, who am I kidding, it was only embarrassing for Hye Jin. Well, except for that precious moment when Sung Joon crashes headlong into the glass door of the company building and falls flat on his tush.
How did I end up on the floor..? What is happening? Is this real life or fantasy?
Because her imagined humiliation is just too much to handle, Hye Jin decides to take the easy route out by submitting her resignation letter after a mere two days. This was when I was like,
She finally got a somewhat respectable job--an internship to be exact--after years and years of rejection and disappointment...and decides to quit it just a couple days later for some guy that doesn't even know who she is. It couldn't get more ridiculous than this. Thankfully, Hye Jin comes to her senses and gathers enough pluck to stick through with her new position as a freelancer on 'The Most's editing team (she decides to make 'the most' out of 'The Most').
Besides making Sung Joon hate her, Hye Jin successfully makes an enemy out of almost everyone at her new workplace, including the crazy, unpredictable, temperamentally flamboyant Chief Editor Kim Ra Ra, who also happens to be the younger sister of Jin Sung Company's president, and the magazine beauty team's Han Seol with the slightly b*tchy propensity (what happened to you since 'Oh My Ghost'?).
Doesn't this face just scream "Imma bite your head off"?
I don't like you because of your atrocious hair.
. . .Um. Please, do me a favor and go look in the mirror at your own hair.
Hye Jin also makes an enemy out of Siwon's character, Kim Shin Hyuk, though not unintentionally. She actually dislikes Shin Hyuk immensely, as he is the one who insisted that she join the editing team. Either Shin Hyuk has taken a real liking to Hye Jin, whom he fondly nicknamed 'Jackson' (short for Michael Jackson because she is always seen wearing 'Michael Jackson' pants and socks), or he sees great potential in her. Or it could be both--it's not certain yet. His interest in Hye Jin can be witnessed in select scenes where he subtly asks her out by telling her that she owes him a meal, gives her a triangle kimbap snack, and comes to her defense in the meeting room when Sung Joon puts her on the spot and verbally abuses her for being a big, good-for-nothing dunce.
Watch this drama for Siwon's foolproof method for winning women's hearts.
On second thought...it may not be as foolproof as I originally suspected.
Sung Joon, who was sent to Korea on orders of 'The Most' HQ in New York, reveals the main reason he was sent to the magazine's Korean branch: to drag it out of its slump within three months. If he can't, then the Korean edition of 'The Most' will be scrapped...along with the love story between Hye Jin and Sung Joon! And we all know that won't happen...right?
Hey girl. check out my neon pink lipstick.
