It's either a mere coincidence or meant to be, as Korean blockbuster 'Assassination' has reached the 10 million ticket sales mark on the National Liberation Day of Korea!
For those that still might not know, 'Assassination' is a historical film starring Jun Ji Hyun, Lee Jung Jae, and Ha Jung Woo set in the 1930s during Japanese colonization.
More specifically, the movie is about a covert assassination plot against a Japanese governor in Seoul. And August 15 this year marks the 70th anniversary of Korea's independence from Japan's colonial rule.
This 10 million milestone was achieved by 8am on August 15, in less than a month since its premiere with 10,094,000 tickets sold. It's only the 12th Korean film to achieve this number, so it's a huge deal!
'Assassination' is playing in select theaters in some countries outside of Korea, so it might be playing in your country too!
