Ever wonder how Korean celebrities achieve their flawless, pore-less complexion? Despite the fact that their profession requires them to wear makeup for the whole day and go through the week with minimum hours of sleep, Korean celebrities seem to be on top of their skincare game.
It is to no one's surprise that generally, Koreans spend a great deal of time and money in nurturing their skin and are known to be ridiculously skin conscious. According to various case study articles, Korean women take frequent trips to the estheticians, spas, and dermatology clinics to maintain their nearly perfect skin. But let's be honest here, a trip to the dermatology clinic is no walk in the park for many of us and I, for one, am not definitely not ready to be breaking into our savings for such visit.
Just because I don't have the money to seek professional help, doesn't mean that I'm going to completely disregard what my skin needs in order for it to look somewhat neat. Here are some ways that top celebrities and idols go about maintaining flawless skin without breaking bank.
Clean diet and drink a lot of water
This is not only the simplest and the cheapest way to achieving healthy and hydrated skinbut it can also help you control calories, energize muscles, maintain the balance of body fluids, keep your kidney functioning properly, and maintain normal bowel function. If you're not a fan of drinking water, you can substitute it with your favorite tea or with fruits and veggies.
Remove your makeup at the end of the day
Studies say that skipping skincare routine before going to bed increases chances of spotting, dries out the skin, enlarges your pores, makes your eyelashes brittle, and worse. It was also revealed that a month of not washing off your makeup will age your skin by ten years.
Back in 2012, Suzy appeared on 'One Night TV Entertainment' and revealed that she has a special way of washing her face calling it the '424 method.' The method consisted of four minutes of rubbing oil all over the face, followed by two minutes of foaming cleanser and four minutes of rinsing with water.
Currently cleansers and masks that include eggs as one of the ingredients are on the rise in Korea. Popular brands such as 'Too Cool For School' and 'Holika Holika' have products such as Egg Mousse Pack ($13) and Clay Egg Soap ($13), which help with both cleansing and moisturizing the skin.
Face masks
Remember that time on 'Roommate' when Jackson surprised Sunny with his hulk mask before admitting that it was one of his ways of taking care of his skin? Sheet masks and wash-off masks aren't only limited to women; Korean male celebrities enjoy ending their exhausting day wearing a sheet mask for 15-20 min. Male idols such as BTS' Jimin and V, G-Dragon, andSHINee's Keyhave publicized their love for face masks via social media as well.
'SNP' carries awesome sheet mask products that will transform you into an adorable panda like Sunny or a ferocious tiger ($2.60), all the while moisturizing your skin with the nutrients that it needs depending on which sheet mask you use.
Shy away from the sun
Sunblock is a must-have product for Koreans. Usually sunblock contains vitamin C, which is an antioxidant, and vitamin E, which prevents flaking skin caused by sunlight. Look for products that "contain UVA / UVB filters." Products with SPF less than 15 are classified as sunscreens or creams that contain only ultraviolet light filtering materials.
Clean out your pores
Clean pores are part of the perfect skin quotient, along with a complexion free of blemishes, scars, wrinkles and other noted imperfections. If the pores are clogged, it can result in blackheads, pimples, and rashes. To keep your skin healthy, you need to cleanse thoroughly.
However, don't feel the need to go down your deep cleansing routine every night; just keep in mind that consistent cleansing and exfoliating are key. Tiffany from Girl's Generation once said during her appearance on 'Star King' that "the most important thing is that you consistently take care of your skin" and keep busy if you want to achieve flawless skin.
Try 'Etude House's WonderPore Facial Soap and Pore Freshener which are great for cleaning out your pores inside and out while reducing the size of your pores. Pore Freshener also help to make skin pure and prevent skin troubles caused by pH imbalance.
