According to distributor Show Box, the film's first five days mobilized 3,370,000 moviegoers. Now, just a week after its release on July 22, the movie has set a new record by gaining over 4 million viewers.�
'Assassination' is setting the same records as 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' and surpassed previous Korean summer blockbusters 'The Thieves,' and 'The Host.' Just this past weekend alone, the movie rallied around 2.4 million people to the theaters.�
This year, amongst Korean films, it recorded best advanced ticket sales, best opening score, and achieved 2 million to 3 million viewers in the shortest amount of time.
'Assassination' is a historical film set in 1933 during the Japanese occupation with an assassination plot to take out a pro-Japanese group.
