Three young adults who witnessed this little mishap immediately ran down to the tracks, and after much pushing and pulling, managed to bring the elderly man back onto the platform. The surrounding bystanders who were witnesses to the brave rescue mission encouraged the three men by cheering, "Hurry on up!"
Fortunately, the man, though he was rushed to the hospital after being rescued, wasn't badly hurt. According to a worker from the Ssangchon Metro, the senior citizen, A--a senior discount pass user--mistook the platform for the exit and ended up falling onto the train tracks due to his inebriated state and his failing vision.
One of the young men who saved A is a 23-year-old government official named Lee Ji Hyuk who is soon to be discharged from his military service. The other two men, disappeared without a trace, leaving neither their names nor their contact information.
The Ssangchon Metro said, "We are seeking these young males in their twenties in order to award them with unlimited subway usage."
