On June 11, Incheon District Court's Judge Shim Dong Young punished Bobby Kim with a 4,000,000 KRW fine and ordered him to complete a 40 hour sexual violence educational program for infringing upon an aviation law and for forcibly harassing (an airline employee). The courts ruled, "The plaintiff developed a grudge because he had reserved a business class seat but due to the airline's mistake, was moved to an economy class seat, which influenced his drinking." They also stated, "Though the plaintiff's actions caused discomfort for surrounding passengers, it appears that his commotion wasn't so critical as to seriously affect other passengers. Still, all the charges [against the plaintiff] were ruled guilty though we considered that this is the artist's first-time offense and that the flight attendant accepted his apology and didn't want to press charges," relating the reasoning behind their judgement.
Bobby Kim was prosecuted for causing a drunken scene on his January 7 flight to San Francisco by yelling at the of his lungs and grabbing a flight attendant around the waist. At the time he told the police, "I had voiced my concern about the seating arrangement but since I couldn't change seats, I drank six cups of wine in order to fall asleep in my economy seat. I was drunk and caused a scene and while asking the attendant for her number, there was physical contact. I don't remember much detail because I was drunk."
