In a recent interview with Newsen, Park Seo Joon discussed his 'ambiguous relationship' with co-star Choi Daniel in his first screen debut, 'The Chronicles of Evil.' The actor explained, "Rather than having special feelings for [Choi Daniel's character], I might have been thinking more about using him." In the movie, Choi Daniel appears as Jin Gyu, one of Park's accomplices, and the two exchange feelings that are best described as 'more than just friends but not quite lovers.' The two characters never actually come in contact with each other in the film, leaving something to be desired.
Park Seo Joon further revealed that there had been a scene in which he embraced Jin Gyu in the character's imagination. He continued, "Yet there were sentiments that the scene came off as too homosexual so it was cut. As the actor who had been in it, I wonder how it would've been had the scene been included but I don't make those decisions. Would it really have been a turn-off [for the viewers]?"
When asked if he would willingly take on the offer to portray a gay role, the actor was slightly taken aback and couldn't easily craft an answer right away. After bursting into hearty laughter the actor said with an open mind, "I'm standard. I don't lean that way but if the character is appealing then I will do it. I won't hesitate."
