Amy, who is of U.S. citizenship as a Korean-American, has been found guilty of abusing propofol and zolpidem several times throughout the past few years. With these offenses under her record, it's said the Seoul court ruled to deport her from Korea earlier this year. This is in accordance with immigration laws which specify that a non-citizen can be deported from the country if he or she fails to abide by the laws. The court also revealed that it appeared that she does not seem to show sincerity in reflecting on her crimes.
Amy's lawyers have revealed that they are protesting this decision saying that it is too severe and goes against Article 37 Section 2 of the Korean constitution.
The TV personality herself has spoken up through an interview, saying that she is regretful of her actions and wants to live in Korea.
"After receiving my sentencing and fine, I've been spending my time reflecting on my actions. I'm deeply reflecting on my wrongdoings and had been working to start a new life. But in the midst of that, I was ordered to leave the country. I was really shocked... As a Korean, I want to live by my family's side. I'm in desperation. I'm spending my days with tears and alcohol," she said.
Do you think deporting her from the country is too severe or justified?
