On SBS' 'Roommate' on February 24, he said, "Before my debut, I worked at an advertising company when I saw a man hitting a woman in front of a convenience store. I was trying to stop the man so he hit me. In the end, my fists went flying, and the man fainted, so the police got a hold of me."

He went on, "The police said to me, 'What country are you from that you're like this here?' I told them I was Korean, but they said, 'Then why do you look like this?' Because I'm dark-skinned, I'm not acknowledged here, nor am I acknowledged in America."
