The epic love triangle or square is one of the most common and popular tropes in any K-Drama.  Knowing that the girl will end up with the main lead, some hope and wish with all their willpower that by through some unforeseen plot twist, she will end up with the secondary lead.  Feeling insecure about the girl ending up with the main lead in case the writers are itching to shock their viewers, others keep rooting for the main couple.
