The text was sent to Heather a few weeks ago when Heather stepped down from her position as Korean Air's vice president. In addition to this text, prosecution also revealed that Emily sent out an email on December 17 addressed to 50 staff members. Although the email was titled "Apology," the content suggested that the staff was also to blame for the "nut rage" scandal as Emily wrote that it was "not the result of one person" but "mistakes committed by all employees."
On December 30, Emily took to Twitter to apologize for the text, saying, "I am sorry to the point of having no words for the text message reported in this morning's newspaper. I don't want to give excuses. It's all my fault…." She continued in the next tweet, "My immaturity is my fault. The email that I sent to the staff that night that said that we would reflect, starting with me, also contains my desire to reflect. Everyone, I beg for your generous forgiveness."

— Emily Cho (@westiemania) for exceeding her authority, violating aviation laws, and mistreating her employees. As Heather's father Cho Yang Ho is the CEO and chairman of the conglomerate company Hanjin Group which owns Korean Air, many believe that Heather's actions and Korean Air's response are an example of the chaebol tendency to abuse power. Emily's response to the "nut rage" incident is further fueling this belief.
According to Yonhap News, an industry official stated, "The 'nut rage' incident and how Korean Air has been handling the situation have come to show the real faces of these chaebols."
In addition to the text message and email, Emily Cho's past comments mocking Jin Air's safety procedures have also surfaced. Back in April 2012, Emily uploaded pictures to her Cyworld homepage sharing her training sessions to become a Jin Air crew member. Emily is being criticized for subtly mocking Jin Air in these past SNS posts.
In the first picture, Emily holds a taser and aims it somewhere off-screen. She writes in the caption, "When would I ever do this? Keke," then writes in English, "If you don't stop these acts immediately I will shoot this electronic taser keke," poking fun at her taser training.
In the next picture, although Emily smiles next to her fellow new Jin Air recruits, she writes in the caption, "Although we speak to each other as equals, in the end, I'm actually going on a different path from them," setting herself apart from her peers.
In the final picture, Emily is seen tied up, perhaps as part of her training for a crisis scenario. She appears to find the situation to be ridiculous, however, as she writes, "When would this ever happen? Hehe. If [the passenger] causes a disturbance! For the safety of the other passengers hehehe please teach me~."
Netizens have commented, "'I'm actually going on a different path from them'…. Wow..." and "Hanjin Group CEO's worst crime is miseducating his children. He should have taught them that if they're in a low position, they should be responsible and know that their words and behaviors will each receive attention."
