The incident occurred on January 5 in a department store located in Daejeon. According to Korean news outlets, the customer wanted to exchange a clothing item she had previously purchased. Two sales clerks explained that it would be difficult to exchange her item, however, because there was a lipstick mark on it. The customer then became violent.
In the clip around the 0:53 mark, the customer can be heard shouting, "Let go, I said let go. How dare you grab my hand, you," while a witness nearby says in a low voice, "Please report this to the police."
At the 1:20 mark, the customer slaps a male clerk in the face after shouting, "What are you doing now with me? What would you help me with?" According to witnesses, despite the loud music at the department store, the sound of the sales clerk being slapped could be heard all around.
In the end, the customer received her exchange. After she had her new item bagged, however, she came back to shout at a female sales clerk, asking why she didn't allow the exchange.
Netizens' comments on the video include: "Is she drunk this woman . And I feel like I know why sale clerks discriminate between general customers and VVIP customers. If this woman was a general customer do you think the sales clerks would stay still even while being hit? The two male sales clerks would've probably fought her or used their strength to subdue her if she was a general customer ," "Do you guys just live stuck to your internet and computer? Try working in service and you'll see that there are a lot of people like that ," and, "That woman definitely did something wrong but why are they just standing there . The sales clerks who don't say anything are also idiots."
