Meanwhile, when I was fourteen, I'm pretty sure I was still struggling with coordination and face-planting into the floor left and right.
The Winter X Games is an annual sporting event that features extreme sports competitions and is arranged by U.S. sports broadcaster ESPN.
On January 24, Kim took on the extreme sport of snowboarding and won gold with a final score of 92 points! She performed like a champ despite scraping her cheek and chipping her tooth during practice. As a result, she beat seven-time X Games gold medalist 31-year-old Kelly Clark and two-time Olympic medalist 28-year-old Torah Bright, who received silver and bronze respectively.
When asked how she's feeling around the 0:45 mark in the clip above, Kim answers, "I mean my face kind of hurts right now and I don't know, I'm just so amazed that I was able to land all that. And yeah, it was so fun."
Although Kim was deemed too young to participate in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, many predict a bright future for Kim as newscasters deem her the "future of snowboarding." Look out world, there's a new snowboarding queen in the making, can't wait to see her at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang!
