Earlier this month on December 2, the SPO administrative staff published a press release (PR) calling for Park's resignation and detailing her abuse. According to the original PR, Park touched male employees' genitals and advised female employees to accommodate male guests as if they were bar hostesses. Park was also accused of unethical hiring and promoting decisions, treating certain employees more favorably due to connections. Ever since her appointment, 13 of 27 administrative staff members have quit.
Park previously admitted to verbally abusing the employees out of frustration due to the SPO's "lax, inefficient, and idle" work culture, saying that the SPO did not have records of the past eight years of performances and that the employees didn't even know how to use Microsoft Excel. However, she denied using sexually abusive language or sexually harassing her employees.
Park also accused the music director Chung Myung Whun of not only launching this petition for her resignation but for also using the SPO as if it were his own private company. She stated that Chung rescheduled SPO events to fit his own personal agenda, made SPO pay for his hotel funds, and gave unfair benefits to employees who were his friends.
Seoul's Human Rights officials have confirmed that Park made sexual jokes and used abusive language. As for whether Park actually made sexual advances on any of her employees, that has yet to be confirmed. The officials insist that government punish Park and help the victims. Park continues to deny these charges, but she offered to step down from her position. She resigned on December 29, a day before the SPO administrative staff would officially decide on whether or not to fire her.
As for Chung, although Chung offered to resign when Park made her accusations against him, the SPO instead chose to extend his contract to one more year. His contract would have otherwise originally ended on December 31.
