'KBS Music Festival' to skip out on awards this year and only feature performances

A KBS rep stated on the 8th, "The '2014 KBS Music Festival' will hold stages without any awards. We've invited 22 teams of artists who will perform their own songs as well as collaboration stages."

KBS previously changed the name of its year-end ceremony from the 'KBS Music Daesang' to 'KBS Music Festival' in 2006 after they got rid of the actual awards ceremony portion of the event. However, since 2009, they started handing out one award, 'Song of the Year', but that has now been taken out from the upcoming 2014 event.�EXO�previously won the title in 2013 with the help of fans' votes sent in during the live broadcast via text for "Growl".

The broadcast station explained that this decision was made to more accurately reflect the name of being a 'festival', so that it can be a stress-free event where everyone can just come together to enjoy performances and wrap up the year.

The '2014 KBS Music Festival' will be held on the 26th at 8:30 PM KST!
