He said, "I wanted to live as a student. I worked on music here and there, but as long as I was in school, I wanted to live as a student who goes to a normal school and not as a celebrity or a singer. It took a month to assimilate as a student. I wanted to be with someone else rather than be alone since I was overseas.

The singer also talked about how it was difficult to return as a student after he has garnered much attention and fame in Korea. He revealed that he was the one to reach out to others.

Roy Kim said, "The hyungs that I've hung out with told me that they were surprised. They thought that I would be hard to approach and somewhat chic or cold. But when I asked, 'Hyung, let's go eat,' they were surprised and also happy.

During the time that he was in school, Roy Kim participated in extracurricular activities such as soccer with his friends and also wrote lyrics about his daily life.
