Back on September 26, a 25-year-old Ms. Kwon committed suicide and left behind a will stating her reasons. In the will, she claims that she was promised a permanent position in her economic company after serving for two years as a contract worker. She expresses her anger, as she had to leave the company back in August after her contract was terminated instead. She thus resents her superiors for not keeping their promise and also says that she was sexually harassed by small business representatives, perhaps suggesting that she had endured the harassment in order to eventually secure her job.
The Incheon Samsan Police Station are investigating these claims in order to confirm the truth. The news, however, has earned great attention as Korean netizens appear to be confident in Ms. Kwon's story, commenting, "This society that enjoys putting social ranks on people's heads is rotten like this. They look at the law as a joke, which is the court's fault for punishing them so lightly," "That's the prime age to work and enjoy yourself, what a shame…. This is a dirty world," and, "Modern sex slaves. The superiors' subordinates."
