Summer is winding down and the weather is cooling (for those in the Northern Hemisphere). We are officially on our last leg of
high-waist cheeky shorts and sundresses.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons when it comes to fashionit's time
for layers and accessories. When finding
inspiration for the most up-to-date looks, where else to look other than one of
the most fashionable countries in the world: Korea. So, let's take a look at some of the trends
for this upcoming season!
Army Print
We typically see one "it" pattern every fall season. Last year it was cheetah print, and this year it's camo. While, to be honest, camo is not as versatile as cheetah, it still makes its way onto all articles of clothing: accents on sweaters, pants, backpacks, shoes, and accessories, such as scarves and backpacks. On this army theme, we also see dark green pants and combat boots, which draw inspiration from the same thread. The key to this trend, however, is to not go overboard with the printone item is sufficient.
Gold
Fall is the season of neutral colors. For example, Jessica of Girls' Generation is the queen of nailing this color palette in her airport fashion. This year, however, gold is also all the hype as well. And not just when it comes to jewelry! Gold goes well with all colors, especially navy and black, which are fall staples. We've seen many Korean fashionistas wear skirts with pops of goldthis season we saw gold on sweaters, coats, and even shoes on the runway. It adds the perfect amount of glam to any outfit.
Platform Combat Boots
Fall is boot season. This is a trend in most countries: riding boots, ankle boots, and even rain boots make their way out of the closet. One style that has made its way into the trends to watch for this season is platform combat boots (which kind of goes along with the army theme). In Korea, people opt for these boots as a point in the outfitthey add a perfect amount of edginess to even the most basic outfits. Platform combat boots and a chunky scarf is really all you need to be a fall fashionista.
Fedora
Aside from the typical beanies to hide bad hair days, fedoras are a trend that make its way into the summer season and trickle into the fall. However, ditch the natural straw color (leave that for next summer) and opt for dark colors and clothier textures. We've seen fashionistas such as G-Dragon rock this look. Also, bucket hats. They're back.
Patterned Stockings
A skirt and stocking combination is always trendy in the fall. You can dress this look up or down. In Korea, we've seen stockings act as a statement piece of outfits with bold patterns. These patterns range from polka dot to hearts to designs that look like "skin tattoos." This is the perfect addition to a simple outfitkey word simpleto add an extra flair.
Natural Hair
In the summer we see the hottest Korean stars die their hair all types of colors. We see colors such as purple and pink, in addition to died tips and blonde, which were in season this summer. However, for the fall season more natural hair colors are always in season. We see celebrities go for their natural black hair or a warm brown color. For those that like to experiment with their hair, we've seen red hues on many Korean fashionistas.
Dark-hued Nails
While bright colors, fun nail art, and colored tips were the trend in the summer, the trend shifts over to dark hues when it comes to nails. Colors such as dark grey, maroon, and black are the new "it" colors. However, nude and gold nails also weasel their way into being fashionable for this season. Also, designs typically stay minimala single jewel, or a simple design is sufficient and chic for the fall season.
Chunky Scarves
Now I know it's unnecessary to say things like coats and sweaters will be in style this fall. They're in style every fall And scarves, too, are always a fall staple. However, chunky scarfs are especially popular in Korea for the fall and winter seasons. This adds a perfect extra dimension to an outfit. So, make sure to grab at least one for this upcoming season!
