During KCON in Los Angeles, I was fortunate enough to catch 'Get It Beauty's beauty workshop.  Korean celebrity makeup artist, Woo Hyeon Jeung, along with actress Yoo In Na and Rainbow's Jaekyung were special guests�they discussed popular trends in addition to doing live tutorials using audience members as models.  So, in this article, I am going to discuss five popular beauty/make-up trends in Korea! 

Straight Brows

Eyebrows become seemingly more important as I grow older--the greatest compliment I can receive is someone telling me that "[my] eyebrows are on point." Americans struggle daily to find the perfect arch and angle for their brows. On the contrary, Koreans keep their shape simple.  The trend in Korea is the straight brow which consists of a thicker shape with little to no arch and a bit of thinning at the ends.  This look makes the face look more natural and innocent. 

Glitter Eyeshadow

The smoky-eye may be all the rage these days in America, but in Korea, a nude shade glitter eyeshadow is the popular trend.  The glitter adds the perfect touch of sparkle around the eye area, making the eyes the focus of the face.  The nude shade makes the look less bling-bling and more subtle (again, we're going for natural here). There is less blending involved, which is nice, but there is greater emphasis on finding the perfect eyeliner and mascara to finish off the look. 

Cat-liner

This is a shared trend in Korea and America.  However, rather than serving the purpose of giving a dramatic look, the cat-liner look in Korea is used to elongate the eye shape.  Rather than lining the entire eye with liner and shadow, Koreans typically minimize the heavy liner to the top lid and opt to use more mascara than liner on the bottom.  If anything, the outside corners of the eyes are lined.  The cat-liner in addition to the mascara really make your eyes pop! 

Pink/ Peach Lip Color

Nowadays we see top models and fashionistas rocking bold lipstick on the daily. Trendy colors include bright red, black, purple, and even blue!  But of course, the pink and peachy shades are a more timeless, natural look.  They add the perfect splash of color to the doll-like look that Koreans prefer for their daily looks.  

Light Blush

I spend time contouring and highlighting my face before using a deeper blush to shape my face and raise my cheekbones (all this after the tedious task of blending in foundation).  However, I save a ton of time when I opt for a more natural look, which consists of minimal foundation and a light colored blush.  This is often the shade that Korean's actually prefer.  Rather than going for a tan, bronzed look (which takes forever to create), the light blush adds a perfect amount of effortless and femininity to your look.
