Yoo Byung Un was previously revealed to be the Billionaire businessman who owned the Sewol ferry that tragically sunk on April 16, leading to more than 300 deaths, many of which were of high school students. He had also been controversial in South Korea in the past for having started a religion, Saviorists, which was deemed a cult, and he was under investigation for embezzlement, tax evasion, and criminal negligence.
After the ferry accident, he became the object of one of the largest manhunts in South Korea (reward of $490,000 for the wanted man) as he fled after the ferry tragedy, refusing to cooperate with police.

However, the search ended today as the police realized a decomposed body they found back on June 12 was actually that of 73-year-old Yoo Byung Un, who was found facing upward in a plum field and surrounded by alcohol. Although the body was discovered last month, they had to wait for the results of a DNA test, which revealed that the body had to indeed be Yoo Byung Un as the DNA matched that of Yoo Byung Un's older brother.
