The producers of SBS's 'Running Man' apologized after eagle-eyed viewers caught a small graphic that had been created on Ilbe, the infamously controversial online community.
The latest episode saw the cast members teaming up with students from many different universities, including Korea University. The editing team inserted a small university logo to represent the three-member group.
Unfortunately, the logo they had used was not the official Korea University insignia, but rather an edited image produced by Ilbe. Since Ilbe carries a negative reputation in South Korea, being connected with several instances of illegal acts, anti-government rhetoric and a generally unhealthy online environment, viewers were upset at the misuse of the logo.
The show's producers quickly apologized after this mistake came to light. "We believe that the insignia was wrongly used when our staff members were hurriedly gathering the logos," they explained. "We didn't even know about the existence of an Ilbe logo, so we found out about this mistake later."
"We apologize to Korea University," said the lead producer, Cho Hyo Jin. "We will immediately take down the video and re-edit it with the official logo. Any future uploads will feature the correct logo."
Compare the two logos below - the Ilbe-created image is on the left. Can you spot the difference?
