When I said after episode five that Shin (Lee Dong Gun) had a plan up his sleeve... well, I didn't realize just how dramatic that plan would be! Ajumma (Choi Myung Gil) read her diary and remembered something big- someone was going to set fire to a nearby subway station, and she knew the exact date and time it would happen.
As with any big plan, there are lots and lots of bumps on the road toward saving everyone in the station and saving Team Three's jobs, and the fact that they were messing with fate made the stakes that much higher. So, how in how many different ways did our heros' plan nearly fail? I've got five for you right here...

5. Nobody believes the red hat man is real
(Just as a reminder- we're calling Mi Rae's future self Ajumma to avoid confusion)
At the beginning of episode six, Mi Rae (Yoon Eun Hye) is the only person on Team Three who actually believes in Ajumma's fortune-telling, and even she has her doubts. After Ajumma shows Shin, Joo Hyun (Oh Jung Se), and Mi Rae the lightning strike at Namsan Tower, they're still skeptical. Can you imagine how awful all of them would have felt if they hadn't listened to Ajumma and the fire had happened just like she said it would?
The plan was nearly foiled from the start when no one believed that the arsonist in the red hat really existed... Jae Soo (Ahn Se Ah) almost didn't watch the security footage because there was just so much of it that it seemed pointless. However, before he could quite get out of the job, he stumbled across footage of the guy's first attempt to burn down the station, getting the rest of the crew more or less on board with the situation.
4. The subway station is just plain unsafe
As the team does their safety inspection of the subway, they find things that are out of date and that simply don't work. You can't be lazy when it comes to fire safety, guys! While their efforts to update all the safety equipment at the station should have been helpful, another disaster was brewing in the background...
3. Red hat guy is the repairman
That's right, our arsonist is also the plumber. The plumber in charge of fixing the sprinkler system. Do I really need to elaborate on how bad this is for everyone involved? It's You Kyoung (Han Chae Ah) and Se Ju's (CNBLUE's Yonghwa) quick thinking and fast action that saves the day at the last second- phew!
2. Shin constantly waffles over how to handle the situation
How ethical is it to use a scary and potentially tragic event as a career booster? Shin (Lee Dong Gun) spends most of this episode debating whether he can live with taking advantage of his knowledge of the future to leverage his and his team members' positions at YBS. On the one hand, broadcasting the event when they know about it ahead of time- on the other, what choice to they have? Nobody's going to believe them if they tell the truth- or worse yet, they'll think Team Three had something to do with it.
Shin is technically the team leader, so all this waffling could have really garbled the plans and left the team in confusion over the actual plan, but thankfully Joo Hyun was able to step up and get everyone on the same page when Shin was busy having moral dilemmas.
1. The fire isn't where Ajumma says it was
The twist that no one saw coming- the fire isn't in the station, where Ajumma originally remembered it being. It was actually in one of the subway cars. The same car that Shin and Mi Rae are on. Our on-site team are barely able to communicate with each other, but like any crack news team, they adapt.
It's down Shin and Mi Rae to catch the bad guy, who's still got his lighter fluid and is not afraid to use it. Stakes rise throught the roof when Mi Rae is trapped under a fallen sign and Shin has to go on without her, leaving her surrounded by puddles of lighter fluid and a sparking electrical sign that could set the place ablaze at any second.
Se Ju and You Kyoung save the day, and not a moment too soon. They get the sprinklers working before Mi Rae gets hurt, with Shin showing up just in time to pull her out from under the sign. The bad guy is caught, Shin gets to say his piece about the truth, and everybody lives. Not too shabby for a day's work from a morning news crew.
Whew, talk about an intense episode! Beyond the action, though, this episode really made me start to feel sorry for You Kyoung. She came off as fake and unlikable in the beginning, but the more we get to know her, the more we understand how she got that way. She's consistently dismissed at every turn, even by our good guys Shin and Se Ju. And did you guys catch the whole thing with her legs in the last episode? Ew.
Even when she gets the chance to prove herself as more than just a pretty face, she doesn't get the credit. She goes to try to talk the fire station into cooperating with their broadcast, but Se Ju's already gone ahead of her and done it. She did just as much as Se Ju to save Mi Rae, and who gets thanked for it? Se Ju. And now Se Ju's all but confessed to liking Mi Rae, and it's up to You Kyoung to keep the secret for him. Shin ignores her, Hyun Ah doesn't like her, Jae Soo's flat-out rude to her- no wonder she acts the way she does- it's the only way she can get by in this business.
So, what did you guys think of our adventurous episode?
