To celebrate 65 years of the Korean armed forces, the officers paraded all the way from Seoul's Sungnyemun to Sejongno on October 1 as a special event.
This parade was the highlight of the 65th Armed Forces Day, which lasted for about an hour in the late afternoon. While the parade happens every five years, it did not occur back in 2008 due to a fire so it has been ten years since the last parade.
In the parade, 11,000 troops participated including infantry units, cadets from each group, special forces, the reserves, and more. A total of 190 weapon systems and 120 aircraft were shown in all their splendor to the onlooking citizens.
The citizens clapped both proudly and out of curious wonder when they saw tanks, the Korean built GPS guided Hyunmoo-3 cruise missiles, and Blue Shark torpedoes.
One citizen stated, "Personally seeing the armed military personnels' manly appearance and the cutting edge weapons that they operate has reassured me to the point where I feel like the one hour parade was extremely short."
Also, on this day, the girls of Crayon Pop dressed in their 'Bar Bar Bar' outfits (helmet and all) to join the parade and bestow gifts of flower necklaces to participating officers. They look lovely and make the whole parade brighten up.
